6th. INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FOR CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE RESEARCHERS AND CRITICS FORUM.
Call for Papers
This is an open call for papers to participate in the 6th. International TYA Critics and Researchers Forum that will take place in Buenos Aires City, Argentina from 28th. September To 1st. October, 2020.
The Theatre for Children and Young People Independent Practitioners Association (ATINA- ASSITEJ Argentina), in collaboration with the International Theatre for Young Audiences Researchers Network (ITYARN), organize this 6th. Forum, with the aim of encouraging the development of research in the national and International field of TYA.
The goal of these Forums is to make a theoretical contribution to TYA professionals, to promote the development of new trends, and to reflect on TYA challenges in the 21st. Century. During the meeting different theoretical frameworks on critical approaches will be proposed and the role of theory in practice and practice in theory will be discussed. The 6th FORUM expects to be a platform for exchange.
The topic of this 6th Forum will be:
“The politically correct issues in TYA today”
The program includes conferences, paper readings, plenary sessions, round tables, and debates presented by TYA researchers and professionals from different countries and continents.
During the Forum, participants and speakers will be able to attend to a selection of Argentinian Theatre for Children and Young People performances related to the theme.
The Forum Language will be English – Spanish. Forums will be translated into both languages.
The Forum is open to general audiences interested in TYA issues.

Paper presentations
Participants:
Researchers, artists, teachers and students from any nationality will be able to present their papers.
Language
Abstracts and Papers must be sent in both languages Spanish and English. If selected, papers can be presented in the original language, but a translation will be required after its acceptance.
Topic
“The politically correct issues in TYA today”
Even when the term “politically correct”became popular within the politic field, especially in the USA at the end of the XX Century, for this forum we are referring to this expression in its broadest meaning as a social fact that refers to all those issues that can be said or not said, how they can be said or cannot, and which issues can be tackled or not in TYA.
What is politically correct changes from culture to culture and adopts different characteristics in different countries or regions, but it seems that it has always the same strength, increased by the communication through the social media.
The politically correct issues, as explicit or implicit commands also reaches schools, producers, programmers and adult audience in general.
Has the politically correct position influenced the performing arts for children and young people, today? How are the creators dealing with this phenomenon? Is it accepted or avoid? Does it generate acts of censorship or self-censorship? Does it promote free expressions?
Does the politically correct point of view stimulate or stop TYA development?
To research about this topic, to know what is going on in the world and put it on the table for the debate will be the principal aim of the 6th. Forum
Titles and Abstracts
Must be sent before 30th. April 2020 by e-mail to the following address: investigadores@iberoamericateatral.com.ar,with a maximum of 200 words.
The work’s title, the author’s name and surname, institution in which he/she works, mail address, country, e-mail and telephone number must be recorded.
Abstracts must be sent in Spanish and English.
Deadline for sending the finished paper:
Once the abstract acceptation is confirmed, the final work must be sent by e-mail before 30th. JUNE 2020 to the following address: investigadores@iberoamericateatral.com.ar
Team Works are allowed.
The text must have a maximum of 9 pages (A4 or 8.5X11, 1.5 spacing, Times New Roman, font size 12) as its reading cannot exceed 20 minutes.
Notes and bibliography that are not going to be read must be included in separate pages. Papers should be presented in double copies in Word and PDF.
The paper can only be read by its author.
The works could be selected in two different categories:
Category A:

Evaluation Committee
Will be joint members of ATINA and ITYARN Boards of Directors.
Translations:
Translations of the final work into English or Spanish, corresponding each case, should be presented in Word before 30th. August 2020. Google translations are unacceptable. The organization will give support for translation to those participants who requires it.
Costs:
The presentation and reading of papers has no fees.
The cost of transportation, accommodation, meals and tickets for the shows will be in charge of each participant.

ATINA, representative of ASSITEJ International in Argentina, has developed an intense activity since its creation in 2002. With the aim of encouraging the development of theatre for children and young people in Argentina and to promote the exchange within the international field ATINA organizes national and international festivals, forums, workshops, and other special projects like its Theatre for Children and Young People Library. www.atina.org.ar
ITYARN, the International Theatre for Young Audiences Research Network, is the international research network of ASSITEJ International. ITYARN aims to further research in theatre and performance for children and youth, through international exchanges of scholarly materials and discourse at conferences, symposia, and festivals.
The International TYA Researchers and Critics Forum has received a mention by Theatre of the World Prizes from Buenos Aires University in 2010.
