Nora Lía Sormani was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina, in 1965. She got her Bachelor of Arts degree from the Faculty of Arts at the University of Buenos Aires and specialized in studies on Theatre, Literature and Culture for Children and Youth. She has published numerous papers in Argentina and abroad in prestigious magazines and volumes of literature and theatre for children as well as collective volumes.
Sormani is the author of the compilation Just the guys? Argentine Stories of all Times, Javier Villafañe. Anthology for School (Atuel, 2004) and Alfonsina and children (Atuel, 2013), among others. She directed the collection of theatre for Children “Mascaritas” in which were published 21 dramas. From 2000-2008 she served on the advisory committee of the Children’s Book Fair Foundation. She collaborates in Parenting Today magazine. Between 2009 and 2011 she was vice president Alija (Argentine Association of Children’s Literature). Sormani is currently columnist in the program Postales Argentinas, National Radio. She collaborates with the daily “Tiempo Argentino”. In 2003 she published The Children’s Theatre. From the Text to the Stage in Editions Homo Sapiens . She received the Atina Award 2009 for Theatrical Research and “La pajarita de papel” Award. She was International Jury for the Prize Hans Christian Andersen on behalf of Argentina in 2009 and is member of the Board of ITYARN. She coordinates The School of Spectators of Buenos Aires and is member of the Latin American and Caribbean Chair of Reading and Writing. Sormani is also co-coordinator of Research Area of Theatre for Children and Youth and Puppet Theatre in the Spectacle Arts Institute of Faculty of Philosophy and Letters, University of Buenos Aires.
