
Paulo Merisio (Phd in Theatre, Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro/UNIRIO, 2005; Associate Professor of Theater in the Graduate and Postgraduate Programs in Performing Arts (PPGAC) and Theatre Education at UNIRIO (Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro).
Bachelor of Architecture and Urbanism from the Universidade Federal Fluminense/UFF (Fluminense Federal University), 1987; B.A. in Scenography for the Performing Arts from the Universidade Federal do Estado do Rio de Janeiro/UNIRIO (Federal University of the State of Rio de Janeiro), 1991; Masters in Performing Arts from UNIRIO (MSc. obtained in 1999 and PhD. in 2005). Trained actor by the Escola de Teatro Martins Penna (Martins Penna Acting School), 1993. He also coordinates the Undergraduate Degree in Theater (2019-2020). Scholarship holder of Productivity in Research from CNPq – PQ 2 Scholarship holder of the program Jovens Cientistas do Nosso Estado (Young Scientists of Our State), 2013 (FAPERJ). He coordinated the Graduate and Postgraduate Programs in Performing Arts (UNIRIO) from 2011 to 2013, where he was in charge of two important projects approved in 2012 by the Coordination of Superior Level Staff Improvement (CAPES): Master’s Degree in Teaching of Performing Arts and DINTER (Interinstitutional Doctorate) UNIRIO/UFU (Uberlândia University) (coordinated until 2017) and coordinated the Graduate Program in Teaching of Performing Arts (UNIRIO), from 2013 to 2017. He coordinates the Laboratory of Historical, Historiographic and Formation Studies in Dramatic Arts (LEHHFAE/CLA/UNIRIO). He is part of the Group of Studies on History and Historiography of the Spectacle (EHHE), former GETC, initiated in 1996 and coordinates the Group of Studies and Research in Processes of Creation in the Theater for Children and Youth. He carried out his post-doctoral research at Université de Paris Ouest/Nanterre, linked to CRILUS, under the supervision of Idelette Muzart-Fonseca dos Santos and with Capes Grant – BEX 3266/13-3. He worked as a Professor in the Drama School
from 2000 to 2009 and in the Master of Arts Program from 2009 to 2012 at the Universidade Federal de Uberlândia (Federal University of Uberlândia/UFU). His areas of experience include: Arts, with an emphasis on acting and theater direction, mainly in the following subjects: acting, staging, theater for children and youth, playing area, melodrama, circus-theater and popular theater. Since 2002 he has been the director of a group from Uberlândia called “Trupe de Truões”, in which he was one of the pedagogical coordinators of the Cultural Center (Ponto de Cultura, Minas Gerais). The group “Trupe de Truões” won several awards at national festivals and participated in 2013 in the SESC Circuit/Palco Giratório Event. He directs the Melodramatic Company since 2011, in Rio de Janeiro. He is also Member of the Board of Directors of the Brazilian Theatre Centre for Children and Youth (CBTIJ [Portuguese abbrev.]) since 2010. Ad-hoc advisor – Capes, CNPq, FAPERJ, Fapemig, FAPESP.
